Inilusan Festival

The Inilusan

The INILUSAN is to Mambusao as Halaran is to Roxas City. The Mambusao cultural religious festivity was first introduced last 1975 as the year’s festival theme. The term INILUSAN means the mutual and reciprocal giving and sharing of food in generous measure and in the spirit of fraternal goodwill that permeates the daily life of Mambusaonons.

The Inilusan is a colorful pageant celebrated by way of recollecting the stories of Mambusao and depicting the historical and cultural growth of the town during the celebration of the town fiesta on November 25 in honor of Saint Catherine of Alexandria.

The presentation of the pageant is hopefully celebrated to be in line with the government’s program for the preparation and enrichment of the nation’s cultural heritage and for the development of tourism. This was decided upon by the Mambusao Town Fiesta Committee with the cooperation of Mambusaonons in various parts of the country especially those in Metro Manila.

It is a kaleidoscopic tableau based on historical records as well as on legends handled form generation to generation. Inilusan depicts the life-style of the Aetas before the coming of the Malays. It shows the arrival of the Malays in Panay Island and it presents a capsulized re-enactment of the migration of Aklan Malays to Mambusao. From the inilusan celebration, one could glimpse at the way of life of the Malays in the new settlement. There is also a re-enactment of the making of the white bell in Tipic, the conversion of the people to Christianity, the transfer of Poblacion of Tipic to the present site and finally, how Mambusao got its name. This festive get together to partake of the food to be offered is a demonstration of the traditional Inilusan practice common to Mambusaonons.
